With 679 known bird species, the Republic of Congo has a rich avifauna and is in a region where it is even richer: there are 1108 known bird species in the Democratic Republic of Congo, 887 in Cameroon, 720 in the Central African Republic, and 606 in Gabon (BirdLife International 2021). In and around Nouabalé-Ndoki, more than 400 species have been identified, making it a paradise for bird lovers. Here is just a glimpse at some of the most iconic ones that can be observed in the Park.
